Annual Children’s Hero Awards

Nominations for 2019 are now closed.  Thank you for your submissions.

The Children’s Hero Awards provides an opportunity to recognize children in our community who have performed a heroic act or who have performed at a level that is beyond expectation, while contributing to a safer community. Students who assist their classmates, parents or friends or who demonstrate good citizenship are considered for awards. Students can be nominated by teachers, parents, members of the community, police, fire and emergency medical services personnel.  Students must reside in Waterloo Region and are in junior kindergarten to grade 8.

An Academy of Judges review the submissions, rank them on a pre-determined criteria, and select those who will receive a Hero Award.

These awards are sponsored by local businesses who support the growth and development of our youth and promote a safe community.

Successful candidates, their families and nominator, are then invited to attend the Hero Award Celebration, hosted at the Children’s Safety Village (late May).  Details for this celebration will be sent directly to those invited to attend.
